The Mediterranean has always served as the stage upon which the epic narratives of great civilizations, empires, and cultures have unfolded. This is all the truer for the historical period conventionally referred to as the Middle Ages – a period whose history is, by its very nature, a Mediterranean history. Following a precise chronological structure and within a coherent framework, the new textbook Storia del Mediterraneo medievale reconstructs the many medieval histories of the Mediterranean, highlighting the rhythms of their development, the inhabited and navigated spaces that shaped their major political, economic, social, and cultural turning points, and the interactions between its shores. It is a narrative that unfolds eastward and westward, north and south of a sea that, for centuries, connected three continents.

Abstract
It is a narrative that unfolds eastward and westward, north and south of a sea that, for centuries, connected three continents.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
