Il valore del frammento: La ricerca su Catania del Collettivo Bohob

The city was built in continuity with the ancient fragment until the 19th century when the transformation of the city becomes a threat to the preservation of the ancient fragment and vice versa. Since 2019, the architectural collective Bohob has been working with the idea of bringing the city closer to the ancient fragment. The contribution deals with a research on the city of Catania conducted through two complementary tracks: the Drawing of the City of Catania and the Minimum Projects. The former consists of a plan of the historic core on a scale of 1:500 that establishes a dialogue with Sebastiano Ittar’s Plan of 1832, an extraordinary drawing capable of suggesting new ideas with respect to which to attempt to achieve a small but relevant advance. The Minimum Projects intend to restore dignity to the archaeological voids scattered in Catania with the ambition of permuting them into spaces, designed through a particular representational method: the triptych and the view.
