Abstract
The contribution aims to present and discuss, as hypothesis, the use of the term «ba-roque philosophy» as a possible specification within the historiographical framework and doctrinal system of the so-called «second Scholasticism». Baroque thought mainly refers to the sphere of Jesuit theologians and philosophers working on the Iberian penin-sula, in Rome and later spread throughout Europe and the New World after the Council of Trent and at least until the middle of the 18th century. With regard to this historio-graphical and critical category, an attempt will be made to exhibit the legitimacy, identi-fy some fundamental problems, trace the limits of application and outline some lines of development for research. At the end, nine programmatic «theses» on this proposal are set out.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
