The present work explores the links between the romance ‘Yo me estaba reposando’ by Juan del Encina, included in his Cancionero of 1496, which enjoyed a long fortune, as demonstrated by a textual tradition as varied as it is articulated, and one of the summits of mystical poetry: Noche oscura (Dark Night) by San Juan de la Cruz. The affinities between the two texts help us to delve deeper into the role of the cultured and popular poetry of the autumn of the Middle Ages as a source of inspiration for the Carmelite, shedding new light on some of the keys to his lyric poetry.

Abstract
The present work explores the links between the romance ‘Yo me estaba reposando’ by Juan del Encina, included in his Cancionero of 1496, which enjoyed a long fortune, as demonstrated by a textual tradition as varied as it is articulated, and one of the summits of mystical poetry: Noche oscura (Dark Night) by San Juan de la Cruz. The affinities between the two texts help us to delve deeper into the role of the cultured and popular poetry of the autumn of the Middle Ages as a source of inspiration for the Carmelite, shedding new light on some of the keys to his lyric poetry.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
