Instead of producing a unity of intent or connecting with constituent inspiration, the Weimar compromise sets up a complex institutional framework that is polarized and will change over time based on the power dynamics imposed in the future. Therefore, even though certain historical events served as the turning point (the economic crisis, the burden of the Wilhelminian legacy, the revolutionary disillusionment, the sociopolitical rivalries of the extreme parties, the variations in demographics, etc.), the crisis of the 1930s was already inherent in the writing of the 1919 Constitution.
