La organización de las bibliotecas antiguas: Πίνακες, catálogos de libros y fuentes literarias

Literary, papyrological and epigraphic evidence shows that the archetype of book catalogues dates back to the Pinakes of Callimachus. The study of their fragments, as well as other literary, papyrological and epigraphic sources, introduces us to the world of ancient books and libraries, and their cataloguing methods. The same sources allow us to investigate the world of libraries more generally: places, cultural contexts and people involved or interested in the world of books (scholars, “intellectuals”, common readers, collectors, scribes and ordinary people who deal with books for different reasons).
