Sociologia del gioco d’azzardo. Classici e traiettorie analitiche

The paper traces the classical roots of the sociology of gambling, illustrating its main modern analytical perspectives (functionalist, dysfunctional-devi ance, symbolic-cultural, regulatory, gender). It is thus intended to prospect the usefulness and characteristics a bio-psycho-social and non-medicalizing approach. Examination of the wide panorama of scientific studies available today also allows us to grasp some indications for designing sociologically oriented policies and interventions to combat it, also from a gender perspec tive.
