What is the role of sex in the contemporary hypersexualised and objectified system? The practices of contemporary biopolitics unfold the modes of control in multifarious forms, exercising power over every aspect of human life. However, sex can be intended as a philosophical object among others, as Jean-Luc Nancy intends to do, so to say, as a theoretical target worthy of the attention that Western philosophy has scarcely reserved for it in its millenary development. Following the path taken by the French philosopher, in this contribution, we intend to shift the centre of gravity of bio-political observation in a direction that goes beyond it to focus on sex as a transformative human practice of existence.

Abstract
What is the role of sex in the contemporary hypersexualised and objectified system? The practices of contemporary biopolitics unfold the modes of control in multifarious forms, exercising power over every aspect of human life. However, sex can be intended as a philosophical object among others, as Jean-Luc Nancy intends to do, so to say, as a theoretical target worthy of the attention that Western philosophy has scarcely reserved for it in its millenary development. Following the path taken by the French philosopher, in this contribution, we intend to shift the centre of gravity of bio-political observation in a direction that goes beyond it to focus on sex as a transformative human practice of existence.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
