Anorexia nervosa is typified by enigmatic cognitive, perceptual and behavioral features that demand the research attention of philosophers in addition to psychologists. For example, epistemological challenges are raised by the apparently distorted claims about her size and shape expressed by the anorexia sufferer. Bringing together empirical evidence and theoretical analysis, this volume examines perceptual and cognitive factors that contribute to AN; the effects of their interactions, and the resultant cognitive status of their subjects’ belief claims. These are pressing issues, standing in the way of targeted and effective treatment for this dangerous disorder.

Abstract
Anorexia nervosa is typified by enigmatic cognitive, perceptual and behavioral features that demand the research attention of philosophers in addition to psychologists. For example, epistemological challenges are raised by the apparently distorted claims about her size and shape expressed by the anorexia sufferer. Bringing together empirical evidence and theoretical analysis, this volume examines perceptual and cognitive factors that contribute to AN; the effects of their interactions, and the resultant cognitive status of their subjects’ belief claims. These are pressing issues, standing in the way of targeted and effective treatment for this dangerous disorder.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
