The contribution proposes, in the form of a summary news item, the salient preliminary data related to the historical-archaeological investigations that were started in 2022-2023 at Qesrat (Memaliaj/Tepelenë - Albania), and that are revealing the unprecedented consistency of a large and multi-layered site from the Roman and Late Antique periods, an important demic centre, possibly based on a villa and then progressively expanded, through buildings of varying typological and functional taxonomy, to encompass a large part of the small natural amphitheatre that the hill, on which the present-day village of Qesarat lies, outlines from the north-east, close to the soft, wide and sinuous bends of the Vjosa river. The investigations are part of the project ‘Landscape Archaeology in the Middle Vjosa Valley: Historical Research and Heritage Communities’. Multi-annual and interdisciplinary, it is managed by the Department of Humanistic Research and Innovation of the University of Bari Aldo Moro (which provides the funding) and the Institute of Archaeology of the Albanian Academy of Sciences, under the scientific direction of C. Il contributo propone, in forma di notizia sintetica, i dati preliminari salienti relativi alle indagini storico-archeologiche che sono state avviate nel 2022-2023 a Qesrat (Memaliaj/Tepelenë - Albania), e che stanno rivelando l’inedita consistenza di un sito ampio e pluristratificato di età romana e tardoantica, un importante polo demico, forse impostato su una villa e poi progressivamente dilatato, mediante edifici di varia tassonomia tipologica e funzionale, a comprendere gran parte del piccolo anfiteatro naturale che il colle, su cui s’adagia l’attuale villaggio di Qesarat, disegna da Nord-Est a ridosso delle morbide, ampie e sinuose anse del fiume Vjosa.
