Since the outbreak of Covid-19, the British Council (BC, https://www.britishcouncil.org/) has provided a wealth of support, not only sharing practical resources, but also creating opportunities for the ELT community to meet about the topic of teacher education and professional development. All of these materials constituted a corpus that has been analyzed using an integrated approach, combining corpus-assisted discourse studies and multimodal critical discourse analysis. To understand how the BC, a leader in the field ELT, shaped the teaching and learning of English during the pandemic and how it plans to do so in the future, this study has two goals. First, it identifies characteristics, implications, and issues related to online practices. Second, it examines the kinds of narrative patterns and discursive strategies that emerge from interactions within the online BC community.
