Argentine anthropologist Rita Laura Segato’s Contra-pedagogías de la crueldad, based on the Latin American context, describe how the “nefarious pact of masculinity”, by preserving the hegemony of patriarchy, accustoms the victims of gender-based violence to a brutal everyday experience and makes invisible the structural analogy of racism and sexism. This essay aims to highlight key and topical aspects of Segato’s thought, whose contribution stimulates the creation of practices capable of counteracting the dehumanisation imposed by the “colonial modernity of the West”.

Abstract
Argentine anthropologist Rita Laura Segato’s Contra-pedagogías de la crueldad, based on the Latin American context, describe how the “nefarious pact of masculinity”, by preserving the hegemony of patriarchy, accustoms the victims of gender-based violence to a brutal everyday experience and makes invisible the structural analogy of racism and sexism. This essay aims to highlight key and topical aspects of Segato’s thought, whose contribution stimulates the creation of practices capable of counteracting the dehumanisation imposed by the “colonial modernity of the West”.File in questo prodotto:
