El manuscrito facticio II-1579 de la Real Biblioteca de Madrid conserva entre sus folios finales una composición anónima cuyo íncipit “Quando yo no os conosçía” nunca despertó el interés de la crítica, a pesar de tratarse de la glosa de uno de los romances más conocidos de Juan del Encina Mi libertad en sosiego e incluido en su célebre Cancionero. El poema de Encina gozó de una amplia circulación tanto manuscrita (fue transmitido con su partitura musical en el Cancionero Musical de Palacio) como impresa, siendo recopilado en varias antologías poéticas del Siglo de Oro (del Cancionero General a la Flor de Moncayo, pasando por el Cancionero de romances de Nucio) y glosado en un buen número de pliegos sueltos. El presente estudio quiere proponer la edición de la glosa, hasta ahora inédita, poniéndola en relación con el romance de Encina y el entorno de la poesía cortesana y la lírica cancioneril.
