The analysis carried out together with the students of the Museology course at the University of Bari allows for some considerations and reflections, considering the evaluations provided by the 34 chosen indicators, which give us a general picture of the quality of the museum offering and online museum communication, especially international, aimed at a new conception of the historical-artistic discipline that also transforms itself in a full Digital Art History. The students revealed a great capacity for investigation, focusing on the critical issues and merits of websites and the forms of valorization and communication of their collections through online catalogs or databases and social media, as digital tools useful for an historical-artistic study path, increasingly digitally oriented. Attention was paid to virtual and interactive visit solutions proposed by museums, and to the quality of communication and enhancement of online collections and the freedom of use granted to remote users. The attention to online collections - based on the quality of research and navigation of the databases, on the possibility of interacting with contents in a transversal and interactive way, on the information provided as well as on the possibility of studying or observing the works of art in detail - constitutes one ofthe elements distinguishing this analysis from others, more oriented towards analyzing aspects of usability, aesthetics and interactivity, rather than the quality and usability of contents for consultation, study and research purposes. The analysis highlighted how, in general, museums are still far from fully applying a correct web strategy.
