The paper examines the introduction of mandatory insurance against catastrophic events in Italy, a legislative novelty aimed at responding to the country’s increased vulnerability to natural disasters, exacerbated by climate change. Spain and France, for example, have had similar provisions for years, with coverage mechanisms that include both state and private contributions. The Italian law aims to redistribute the )nancial burden of disasters between the private sector and the state to ensure a proactive approach to mitigate the economic consequences of natural calamities.
Il presente contributo esamina l’introduzione dell’obbligo assicurativo contro gli eventi catastrofali in Italia, una novità legislativa volta a rispondere all’aumentata vulnerabilità del Paese ai disastri naturali, aggravata dai cambiamenti climatici. La Spagna e la Francia, ad esempio, dispongono di previsioni similari da anni, con meccanismi di copertura che includono contributi statali e privati. La novità italiana mira a ridistribuire il carico finanziario dei disastri tra il settore privato e lo Stato al )ne di garantire un approccio ex ante per mitigare le conseguenze economiche delle calamità naturali.
