This article examines Italy’s current process of digitization, which on the one hand seems to be growing strongly but on the other hand accuses the aftermath of a past all but dedicated to digitization. The pandemic and the approval of Italy’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan looms seems like a turning point for the digitization of public administrations, but questions are raised about the Country’s ability to maintain this innovativeness even after all European funds have been disbursed.
