Irène Némirovsky’s reception is exceptional, because she has gone from anonymity to fame twice : in 1929, the publication of David Golder by Grasset put this young unknown woman from the East into the limelight ; in 2004, the publication of Suite française by Denoël made the world rediscover the writer who had been forgotten after her deportation to Auschwitz. At these two turning points in her reception, her age is perceived by critics as an essential aspect. The article proposes to analyze the reasons for this, in relation to the literary context of these two times.

Abstract
Irène Némirovsky’s reception is exceptional, because she has gone from anonymity to fame twice : in 1929, the publication of David Golder by Grasset put this young unknown woman from the East into the limelight ; in 2004, the publication of Suite française by Denoël made the world rediscover the writer who had been forgotten after her deportation to Auschwitz. At these two turning points in her reception, her age is perceived by critics as an essential aspect. The article proposes to analyze the reasons for this, in relation to the literary context of these two times.File in questo prodotto:
