This essay discusses the pragmatic dimension of the apriori in relation to a group of philosophical approaches developed across the 20th century. It brings together early pragmatism, from James to Morris, with Italian transcendentalism (A. Banfi, G. Preti) to point out a theoretical filiation of these Italian philosophers from their American colleagues. Similarities and divergences are taken into account to claim that Italian transcendentalism has provided a consistent and original account of the apriori as embedded in pragmatic, hence historical experience.

Abstract
This essay discusses the pragmatic dimension of the apriori in relation to a group of philosophical approaches developed across the 20th century. It brings together early pragmatism, from James to Morris, with Italian transcendentalism (A. Banfi, G. Preti) to point out a theoretical filiation of these Italian philosophers from their American colleagues. Similarities and divergences are taken into account to claim that Italian transcendentalism has provided a consistent and original account of the apriori as embedded in pragmatic, hence historical experience.File in questo prodotto:
