Verità pragmatica e verità analitica nel pensiero di Giulio Preti

The reader will find here an essay of reconstruction of Giulio Preti’s philosophy of common language. Preti’s theory of knowledge moves from Schlick’s notion of Konstatierungen to show the main difference between the pragmatical level of ordinary language and its analysis, leading to the level of theoretically constituted languages. Moore’s truisms are used to describe the fundamental difference between the pragmatical and analysed meanings of common language expressions. Corresponding to these two different levels of meaning, Preti describes two different types of truth. The task of philosophical analysis, whose concrete function will not be discussed here, consists therefore in transforming the pragmatical expressions of ordinary language into theoretically structured connections of meanings. Analysis is then conceived by Preti as a transcendental function.
