This contribution has two objectives: firstly, it aims at clarifying the nature, scope and significance of the aforementioned genealogical method developed by Gilson; secondly, it attempts to evaluate that method through the investigation of the historical genesis of the Cartesian notion of realitas obiectiva initiated by Gilson and continued by Roland Dalbiez.
