Italian’s second post-war years had represented a moment of high cultural need, characterized by a strong request in scientific knowledge. As popularizer, the mathematician Lucio Lombardo Radice was one of the most important protagonists of this season. Analysing his contributions in national newspapers and journals, the paper proposes to outline the originality and the function of his writings. The article will focus on the political relevance of Lombardo Radice’s popularization, as an intellectual close to the Italian Communist Party, underling the use of the History of science he did – also by the means of television – as an instrument to popularize for the citizenship.
