Particular importance has his correspondence, where it is praised not the bishop, but the man belonging to the Roman senatorial aristocracy. From the letters, moreover, we may infer also the reputation Sidonius had among his contemporaries. Finally, are considered authors such as Gennadius, Ruricius, Avitus and Gregory of Tours, concerning relationships they maintained with Sidonius.
