After describing a literature review about participatory culture and digital storytelling and presenting some examples about a digital storytelling approach in making cultural heritage more participatory and inclusive through virtual platforms, the chapter explains the co-creative and participatory method adopted in a case study, named #iziTRAVELSicilia, carried out in Sicily on the global platform izi.TRAVEL. The project deals with the topic of participatory strategies in multimedia audio-guide co-production, a co-creative process within a regional-scale with local stakeholders. The project soon transformed into a participatory process, involving 4.000+ people from the local heritage communities. In particular, many projects have been carried out with students, some of them with learning difficulties, all engaged as “digital Ciceroni”, able to develop their own digital narrative projects and to help local Sicilian, institutions suggesting? new forms of digital enhancement and ways to valorise their own heritage.
