This paper examines three amend the most relevant points of view in the debate on the “Marxism crisis” that took place in Italy during the 1970s: those of Mario Tronti, Biagio De Giovanni and Massimo Cacciari. They represent the most accredited theses within the debate, whicht may be centered on the hypothesis of the diffusion of Politics – supported by neo-gramscian hegelomarxism, interpreted by De Giovanni – and on the thesis of the autonomy of Politics – with which Tronti and Cacciari sought to overcome the theoretical workerist paradigm. Hence, I propose to identify the two categories of conflict and mediation as the conceptual axes on this alternative reveals itself laid on.
