After a very brief excursus on the evolution of AI, this article discusses some crucial aspects of AI in connection with learning environments. Starting from a question posed by Miglino that focuses on the AI dilemma whether to imitate human cognitive processes or to promote new processes, the advantages of greater interaction between AI and educational psychology are discussed. Finally, some possible future research lines are presented aimed at enhancing the role of the teachers and at training students’ digital skills aimed at advancing knowledge.
