The Landscape of Alta Murgia between the Rediscovery of Places and New Social Practices The constant loss of the rural characteristics of Alta Murgia has placed this traditional sub-region of Puglia in a fragility state. For a long time, Alta Murgia has been a no man’s land where every actor (single and collective, public and private) has operated in a careless way with respect to the cultural values preserved in the landscape inflicting wounds and stating his dissipation. The construction of new links between places and communities is defining, even today, new development pathways that find a genetic reference code in the rural dimension. This contribution, after profiling the current territorial organization of Alta Murgia, shaped mainly by agro-forestry-pastoral activities, focuses on the reading of some bottom up actions through which the material and symbolic space of the sub-region, has entered in new collective practices that have recovered the identity of the places and initiated paths to capitalize the landscape and its rural memory.

Abstract
The Landscape of Alta Murgia between the Rediscovery of Places and New Social Practices The constant loss of the rural characteristics of Alta Murgia has placed this traditional sub-region of Puglia in a fragility state. For a long time, Alta Murgia has been a no man’s land where every actor (single and collective, public and private) has operated in a careless way with respect to the cultural values preserved in the landscape inflicting wounds and stating his dissipation. The construction of new links between places and communities is defining, even today, new development pathways that find a genetic reference code in the rural dimension. This contribution, after profiling the current territorial organization of Alta Murgia, shaped mainly by agro-forestry-pastoral activities, focuses on the reading of some bottom up actions through which the material and symbolic space of the sub-region, has entered in new collective practices that have recovered the identity of the places and initiated paths to capitalize the landscape and its rural memory.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
