Christian texts offer interesting insights for the reconstruction of relations between Jews and Christians; in fact, they still convey themes attested in previous centuries, but at the same time, they contain themes that would become characteristic in subsequent periods. In hagiographical sources the presence of Jews is very diverse: sometimes they appear as a people, sometimes as individuals, sometimes as a community organized in terms of worship, culture, commerce, and often in conflict with Christians. There is a fluctuation between positive and negative attitudes of Christians towards the Jews: at certain times and in certain places the Jews took an active part in economic and social life, at other times they are described as being foreign to their surroundings, in an ambiguous equilibrium, which has placed them simultaneously inside and outside Christian society.

Abstract
Christian texts offer interesting insights for the reconstruction of relations between Jews and Christians; in fact, they still convey themes attested in previous centuries, but at the same time, they contain themes that would become characteristic in subsequent periods. In hagiographical sources the presence of Jews is very diverse: sometimes they appear as a people, sometimes as individuals, sometimes as a community organized in terms of worship, culture, commerce, and often in conflict with Christians. There is a fluctuation between positive and negative attitudes of Christians towards the Jews: at certain times and in certain places the Jews took an active part in economic and social life, at other times they are described as being foreign to their surroundings, in an ambiguous equilibrium, which has placed them simultaneously inside and outside Christian society.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
