The relations between the mafia and the legal economy are a question of fundamental importance for the criminal policies of Italy. Much has been done in this regard in recent decades, but the same remains to be done with reference to both the protection of honest entrepreneurs, sometimes victims of “unjust Justice”, and the limitation of the financing channels of criminal associations. If the funding channels cannot be dried up, the mafia will always find a way to invest its criminal proceeds in the legal economy. Having identified the three sectors of drug trafficking, prostitution and usury, contrasting hypotheses are proposed, as well as solutions for the greater protection of honest entrepreneurs
