This paper aims at tracing a rough description of a juridical spectator theory. Through a multidisciplinary method, the analysis pivots on two types of signs showing how the spectator today is the privileged form of subjectivity to understand the figures of the citizen and the recipient of post-modern political and juridical processes. The first kind of signs explores the logic of ‘synoptic’ dispositives as privileged tools to build and control social order. The second investigates the signs demonstrating the loss of importance of state law and the development of new normative sources without any kind of democratic legitimization.

Abstract

This paper aims at tracing a rough description of a juridical spectator theory. Through a multidisciplinary method, the analysis pivots on two types of signs showing how the spectator today is the privileged form of subjectivity to understand the figures of the citizen and the recipient of post-modern political and juridical processes. The first kind of signs explores the logic of ‘synoptic’ dispositives as privileged tools to build and control social order. The second investigates the signs demonstrating the loss of importance of state law and the development of new normative sources without any kind of democratic legitimization.
