There are several reasons why we can now describe Dante Alighieri as a European poet. The article focuses on one of them: the idea of self-writing as a formative journey, with specific reference to teacher training. In fact, the European Union, in particular with the recent Council Resolution [...] towards a European area of education and beyond (2021- 2030), seems to attach great importance to teacher training as a determining factor in the development of a more experienced and widespread sense of belonging and cohesion among its citizens. In the background, the idea of a European project of teacher training through the study of Dante emerges.

Abstract
