The essay analyzes the topic of resistance in two ethnographies, in which the analytical scheme based on the pair domain/resistance, inaugurated by James C. Scott, resonates with «resistencial» readings of Sardinian history. After outlining Scott’s scheme, the essay aims to show how its dualism leads to a particular reading of contemporary Sardinia political dynamics: local scene is depoliticized; real conflicts are transposed in terms of abstract oppositions; interconnections constituting the local are inadequately portrayed. From the close distance of «endotic» ethnography both the outcome of a «stylized» ethnographic representation of the locality and the «anti-hegemonic» positioning that sustains it appear politically ambiguous.
