Da “catalogare” a “identificare e collegare”. Riflessioni su Introduzione a RDA

Emerging technologies applied in the field of Library and Information Science are increasing the interaction between the user and information resources. The adoption, even if partial, of FRBR conceptual model in Resource Description and Access, and, in Italy, in Regole italiane di catalogazione have stressed the difference between the object and the content of cataloging. These changes are adding to the communicative potential offered by semantic web, which requires that data describing the resources be individual and identifiable, independent of the bibliographic records and reusable in other contexts. In addition to these features, the elements of the description, the new products of cataloguing, must meet more criteria of authority, increasing the role of authority control in professional work.
