In this section, the biographical portrait of Georges de Rham is presented emphasizing above all his actual involvement in the ICMI activities as the national delegate of Switzerland and as the President of the International Mathematical Union (1963-1966). His views on mathematics teaching, which, in his global vision of scientific culture, had to be closely intertwined with research, are also highlighted. Selected bibliographic references from his publications related to mathematics education are also included.
