The Italian vernacular translations (volgarizzamenti) of Seneca’s Consolationes, Ad Helviam matrem and Ad Marciam, are transmitted in four manuscripts: Roma, Biblioteca Casanatense, ms. 117; Firenze, Biblioteca Medicea Laurenziana, Pluteo 76.61; Roma, Biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana, Rossiano 401; Roma, Biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana, Urbinate latino 1142. My proposal aims at investigating these manuscripts and at offering some considerations about the misunderstandings of Latin model by the anonymous translator and about the possible lections of vernacular text caused by errors or variants in the Latin tradition.

Abstract
The Italian vernacular translations (volgarizzamenti) of Seneca’s Consolationes, Ad Helviam matrem and Ad Marciam, are transmitted in four manuscripts: Roma, Biblioteca Casanatense, ms. 117; Firenze, Biblioteca Medicea Laurenziana, Pluteo 76.61; Roma, Biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana, Rossiano 401; Roma, Biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana, Urbinate latino 1142. My proposal aims at investigating these manuscripts and at offering some considerations about the misunderstandings of Latin model by the anonymous translator and about the possible lections of vernacular text caused by errors or variants in the Latin tradition.File in questo prodotto:
