Multicultural characterization requires European culture to search for ways to state its centrality. In its new enlarged geographical composition, the European space on one hand has to verify "the existence of a phenomenon of exaltation" of diversity, on the other it has to face the problem of relations between religion and politics, or between the religious dimension and law. Abstract

The affirmation of religions as one of the aggregating and cultural and social identifying factors, both on a personal and collective level, cannot be ignored by the State in the provision of its services and in the determination of public policies. The peace building process between religions is part of the construction of Europe, rooted in legal principles and rules governing the peace and security process. This process, which constitutes a fundamental element for UE, can be supported with specific actions, such as dialogue, which specifically represents not only an instrument of social relevance, but also of a legal nature. Legal culture has led to consider it as a value for social stability. After the strategy change implemented to fight international terrorism, a more careful reflection has been developed in Europe on the importance of intercultural dialogue, which is legally used through the production of appropriate programs. Religions must become part of the democratic process, without forgetting and betraying the authenticity of their religious message and without conditioning the development of democracy.
