In 2012, the EU launched the European Year on Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations. The European Year aims to raise awareness of the contribution that older people can make to society. It aims to encourage and urge policy makers and stakeholders to undertake, at all levels, actions to improve the chances of remaining active aging and strengthening solidarity between generations. The proposed theme will be carried out an investigation into the documents of EU policies in the field of active and healthy aging and sociological analysis of the contents emerging that seem to draw a "new" model, in which the social role of individuals is primarily related to participation or less production-to-work system.
