Sociology of health for Costantino Cipolla represented a disciplinary field that has seen him as the promoter and author of many academic initiatives and about fifty publications, to date. Professor Cipolla, with specific reference to the sociology of health, was one of the closest students to all the activities of the teacher prof. Ardigò. The book Society and Health, published by Ardigò in 1997, becomes a guide and reference text for health sociology in Italy as well as for prof. Cipolla who, drawing inspiration from it and overturning its title, founded the important Health and Society Journal in 2002.
