Sono indagate in particolare le caratteristiche formali della sua lingua, la sua cultura religiosa e i rapporti intrattenuti con i Medici.
With this historic and linguistic study of the travel writings of Giovanni da Empoli, a Florentine writer-merchant in Portuguese Asia, Tuccini surveys closely the formal characteristics of the traveller’s language and of the epistolary style he employed. Tuccini looks also at the religious culture, the colonial ideology and the tight network of relationships that the merchant maintained not just with his father (his correspondent), but also with the Florentine family of the Medici.
