Il popolino credulo. Divagazioni su Bernardino da Siena e il suo uditorio

Facendo riferimento al teatro liturgico, alle rappresentazioni giullaresche e al 'maggio' toscano, questo studio si concentra sull'attività di Bernardino da Siena e sulla sua personalità, prendendo in considerazione gli aspetti formali e innovativi della sua 'ars predicandi'. Dopo aver esaminato le tecniche impiegate dal francescano e già usate dagli antichi favolatori - in particolare l'aprosdòcheton e l'epimythion - Tuccini mostra come il frate convertisse l'uditorio facendolo immedesimare nei personaggi reali e fittizzi delle prediche.

Moving from the liturgical theatre, the jesters’ performances and the Tuscan “Maggio”, and taking into account Bernardino’s work and his personality, this essay concentrates on the formal and innovative aspects of his ars predicandi. The author tries to show how the stories and anecdotes of the Franciscan, who makes use of aprosdòcheton and epimythion as they were employed by the ancient fabletellers, aim at Christianizing his audience by making them empathize with the historical and fictitious characters of his sermons.
