Abstract

Today’s progressive disappearance of the monument envisages, on the one hand, the abandonment of celebratory moments in favour of an empathetic model of the “memorial”, and, on the other hand, the spread of ephemeral – two-dimensional – and impermanent art projects that reverberate in the public space. Artistic 2D images in the public space contribute to an inconspicuous renewal of meaning in urban settings due to their non-frontality and lightness, as well as for their semantic ambiguity.
