This essay presents a brief overview of the complex relationship between Christianity and mime and analyses the available sources on anti-Christian mimes. Furthermore, it is focused on the story of saint Gelasinus of Heliopolis, critically discussing what has been said about him, especially in relation to the hagiographic traditions of other martyred mimes, first and foremost saint Genesius of Rome.

Abstract
