Abstract

Archaeological risk assessment in the planning process has contributed to transforming the work of the professional archaeologist, that in Italy is still lagging behind in both its legal position and its educational formation. This contribution brings into focus two questions; the best methods within university courses for providing future entrepreneurial and professional skills; and the relationship between the concept of “public archaeology” and the social impact of archaeological evaluation in the planning process.
