The article analyses the cultural process, that leads to the justification of the colonisation of the Slaves and of their territory from the 19th to the 20th century. It describes the conflict between Germans and Slavs in the philosophical and historiographical literature. The continuities and discontinuities are studied and two strams of interpretations are defined. The first one, developed in the 19th century, is based on the cultural difference between the two civilisations while the following one is based on economic and apparently objective datas. Following this interpretation the Slavs are seen as economically and politically unable to rule a nation: they need to be "invaded". The essay suggests that this kind of discourse, that is used in order to show the inferiority of a population, is still used and does not disappear with National Socialism.

Abstract
The article analyses the cultural process, that leads to the justification of the colonisation of the Slaves and of their territory from the 19th to the 20th century. It describes the conflict between Germans and Slavs in the philosophical and historiographical literature. The continuities and discontinuities are studied and two strams of interpretations are defined. The first one, developed in the 19th century, is based on the cultural difference between the two civilisations while the following one is based on economic and apparently objective datas. Following this interpretation the Slavs are seen as economically and politically unable to rule a nation: they need to be "invaded". The essay suggests that this kind of discourse, that is used in order to show the inferiority of a population, is still used and does not disappear with National Socialism.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
