All cytotoxic agents useful in chemotherapy for malignant tumors are toxic on the normal cells too; of particular importance are their possible long-term effects on gonads, both on women and men. A large number of women are in the reproductive age and some are in the prepuberal period, so that it is not surprising that chemotherapeutic agents could potentially damage the genital glands function. In our study we report the data on 29 patients who delivered 4-11 years after the completation of the planned chemotherapy. © Copyright 2009, CIC Edizioni Internazionali.

Abstract

All cytotoxic agents useful in chemotherapy for malignant tumors are toxic on the normal cells too; of particular importance are their possible long-term effects on gonads, both on women and men. A large number of women are in the reproductive age and some are in the prepuberal period, so that it is not surprising that chemotherapeutic agents could potentially damage the genital glands function. In our study we report the data on 29 patients who delivered 4-11 years after the completation of the planned chemotherapy. © Copyright 2009, CIC Edizioni Internazionali.
