In this Highlight, the studies on wormlike reverse micelles are critically reviewed in light of recent results that demonstrated the impact that micellar branching has on dynamics, rheology and phase behavior. Due to the large number of papers and to their historical importance, a large emphasis is on the reverse micelles formed by water addition to lecithin in oil solution.
