In the article are presented the preliminary data about a Roman and Late Antique settlement – perhaps a vicus – located in the area of Altamura (BA) as part of a research on the dynamics that have affected the section of via Appia between Gravina in Puglia and Taranto. Archaeological evidences are discussed in relation to the landscape, the ancient road network and to the historical and archaeological context.

Abstract
