Un unusual and thus understudied boundary stone, from Crispiano (Taranto), records Vespasian’s restoration of the boundaries of the municipium Tarentum in AD 77-78, in accordance with the map drawn up by Gaius Gracchus in 123 BC (the forma Gracchiana: a hapax). The reference in the Liber coloniarum 211L. to the activity of surveyors in the territory of Tarentum is now corroborated by the evidence of this boundary stone.

Abstract
Un unusual and thus understudied boundary stone, from Crispiano (Taranto), records Vespasian’s restoration of the boundaries of the municipium Tarentum in AD 77-78, in accordance with the map drawn up by Gaius Gracchus in 123 BC (the forma Gracchiana: a hapax). The reference in the Liber coloniarum 211L. to the activity of surveyors in the territory of Tarentum is now corroborated by the evidence of this boundary stone.File in questo prodotto:
