In this Chapter I draw on two schools of thought: one focusing on innovation and the other on human development. Given the vastness of these two strands, I focus on concepts that I consider important for my argument and useful for my ‘toolbox’. With regard to innovation, I focus on the interpretation of structural change, on innovation systems and the learning process, the role of institutions and social capital, and on inclusive innovations and developing countries. With regard to human development, I build on some of the key concepts of this approach and discuss some specific issues, such as inequality and democracy.

Abstract
In this Chapter I draw on two schools of thought: one focusing on innovation and the other on human development. Given the vastness of these two strands, I focus on concepts that I consider important for my argument and useful for my ‘toolbox’. With regard to innovation, I focus on the interpretation of structural change, on innovation systems and the learning process, the role of institutions and social capital, and on inclusive innovations and developing countries. With regard to human development, I build on some of the key concepts of this approach and discuss some specific issues, such as inequality and democracy.File in questo prodotto:
