Vico’s works, especially the Vita scritta da se medesimo and the various editions of the Scienza nuova, have known significant editorial vicissitudes, which have been decisive for the development of the thought of the Neapolitan philosopher and for his «career as a man of letters». In this article, we propose to follow this series of typographical misadventures and to detect their influence on writing and on the evolution of Vico's intellectual project.
