Comparison between functionalism and constitutionalism as models of study of the international organization: short remarks An approach that compares constitutionalism with functionalism, as analysis models of the international organization, enables us to face the examination of the same international organization in a non-ideological manner. In comparing the two models in question, it is essential to evaluate the consequences of each of them in the light of international law. The reasons that might lead us to prefer functionalism over constitutionalism do not exclude that the comparison of the former model with the latter may help highlight the fact that revising some aspects of functionalism may be advisable. The opportunity of this revision appears consistent with the dynamic nature of the processes involved in the life of international organizations, which are the expression of the powers which the States intend to confer on them.
